About Me

Inspiring children to reach their active potential

Hi, - I'm Louise, a University of Brighton trained PE teacher; I hold a BA in Physical Education with QTS and had the good fortune to study for one semester at the University of Idaho in the US.

As a mature student I put myself through university and at the same time I also studied to become a Swim England trained teacher (formerly ASA). Not only did this complement my degree, but it also gave me immediate hands-on teaching experience.

After graduation I taught PE up to GCSE in a large mixed state secondary school for four years.  As well as teaching PE I was also in charge of overseeing all netball extracurricular activities and running the teams, together with rounders in the summer. I left after four years to take time out to take advantage of an opportunity to explore, live and work in New Zealand.

Upon my return I was employed for several months as a supply teacher before undertaking my most recent role as a PE teacher in an independent school for girls aged 4-16.  I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching in this school for 11 years, and gained so much  from this experience (awarded UPS2). My role required me to teach dance, gymnastics, fitness, trampolining, swimming, netball, football, tag rugby, rounders, tennis and athletics across the key stages.  I was also in charge of the year 6 netball team.

My own sporting journey has been varied; In primary school I enjoyed gymnastics, netball, running and swimming and in secondary school, trampolining, basketball, rounders and cross country.  Upon leaving school I became heavily involved in modern freestyle martial arts and gained my black belt in 2000. These days, I swim, yoga, and play netball and when i'm not on the netball courts on a Saturday, you can often find me on the park run course at Panshanger.  My new passion though, is the  yoga and having always dabbled, I developed a daily online practice during lockdown; I now attend a local studio several times a week and it is my intention to do the yoga foundation course in 2023 with a view to move on to teaching yoga in the future.

My decision for change was tough; nonetheless, having been a teacher in schools for the last 17 years, I have now decided to start my own business.  Through this, I want to focus on the children and to be able to inspire them to grow to love sport, health and fitness as much as I do.   I have a wealth of knowledge and experience to bring across multiple sports and in my new role I want to ensure sport and exercise is not only educational but also fun and accessible for all.
